Meet Your Therapist
“I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don’t believe that there is a limit to human capacity.”
Founder, Therapist
India Gardner, MA, LPC
I'm India! I am the Founder and Therapist (Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) at Couch Conversations & Consulting, PLLC. I am glad you found me and I look forward to collaborating with you during your therapy journey. one conversation at a time.
I believe therapy should feel grounding and supportive. I take a holistic approach, looking at the full picture of your life — your experiences, environment, culture, and relationships — to understand what you’re facing and what you need. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are and tailor therapy to fit your personality, goals, and pace
I show up with authenticity, compassion, and a genuine understanding of what it means to rebuild your life. Several years ago, I experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that left me with invisible disabilities. Therapy helped me find my footing again, discover new strengths, and move forward with purpose. That healing experience inspired me to become a therapist so I could support others on their own journeys.
During your mental health journey, you will notice that I am direct, relaxed, collaborative, and compassionate — with a touch of humor when it helps ease the moment. I have been a therapy client before so I understand how you might feel apprehensive as we first begin working toward establishing trust and therapeutic alliance. As we continue the process, you will become more comfortable and relaxed.
A bit about my approach
I offer individualized care that blends practical tools with insight-building and ongoing collaboration. I enjoy working with teens (13-17), adults (18 and up), and couples! Together, we’ll explore what’s going on beneath the surface while also developing concrete strategies that help you move forward.
My therapeutic style is eclectic, blending evidence-based modalities like CBT and DBT, EFT, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused approaches with creativity, cultural relevance, and relatability. I even incorporate elements such as African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and mixed-media tools to make therapy feel approachable and authentic. My signature “remixed” approach combines practical strategies with insight-building techniques, encouraging clients to apply what they learn beyond the therapy room.
What to expect from our first session
Our first session is a chance to get to know each other and talk about what’s bringing you in. I see myself as a guide who uses “gentle pressure relentlessly” — helping you take meaningful steps toward healing, confidence, and the life you want. When needed, I collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure your care is connected and supportive.
My motto is “do something you can be proud of each day.” I hope to inspire this same enthusiasm in my clients. If I can help at least one person embrace uncertainty while creating a meaningful, authentic life, then I have made a difference in the world, and fulfilled the Couch Conversations and Consulting mission, one conversation at a time.
