  • As a traumatic brain injury survivor with multiple invisible acquired disabilities, and experiences chronic pain, I understand how you feel. The journey navigating the new normal is a marathon and the services and support become your village.

    During our journey together you’ll learn:

    • New coping skills and improve your emotional well-being and navigate the new normal or just day to day functioning.

    • I may utilize evidenced-based therapies including Cognitive behavioral (CBT) and Dialectal Behavioral therapies to improve your memory, attention, cognitive ability, emotional regulation and problem solving.

    • New coping strategies and techniques to address brain fog, concentration problems, attention deficit, anxiety, sadness and irritability.

  • Take the lead in learning, teaching and advocating about your condition and how you’ve adapting to it. I have over 16 years of experience working with verbal and non verbal individuals who have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. I am very comfortable working with non verbal individuals utilize communication devices to assist with communication.

    For individuals with acquired disabilities, I have a decade of lived experience and can help you process and adjust as we collaborate on to maintain or improve your quality of life.

    During our journey: your story matters. Your healing matters. And together, we can create a path forward to:

    • Developing a positive disability identity & disability self-concept, which includes disability identity and disability self-efficacy (i.e., confidence in managing disability symptoms)

    • Using your lived experience to write your own narrative to tell your story on your own terms.

    • Learning to be your own advocate as you navigate the world, and form your or enhance your identity to coexist with your disability.

  • During our journey together we will:

    Develop new ways to think about process and reframe negative or unwanted thoughts and emotions as well as promote positive emotions, thoughts and coping mechanisms,

  • During your mental health journey:

    We’ll explore topics including racial, cultural identity , and how race intersects with other social constructs like class, gender, and sexuality, societal impact of race and the experience of discrimination and belonging.

    Creating a space for BIPOC folks to exist and explore themselves and having to code switch and feel comfortable without judgement.

    During your sessions we explore topics including:

    • Ethnic and Minority Identity Development

    • Racial Identity Social Interaction

    • Individual Identity

    • Internalized Beliefs

    • Discrimination and Marginalization

    • Self-affirmation & self-esteem

    • Racial Trauma

    • Generational trauma

  • During our sessions, we will explore topics symptoms have or are currently experiencing and how the may affect your daily life or may be difficult to control. Some symptoms include persistent sadness, irritability, and loss of interest in activities, along with excessive worry and fear.

    We will develop strategies to address:

    • Difficulty identifying or regulating emotions

    • Coping with negative or unwanted thoughts and emotions

    • Desire to change thinking patterns or behaviors

    • Recovering from perfectionism, low self-esteem, low self-worth, poor boundary setting, limited self-trust, people pleasing, and trauma

    • Obsessive thinking and compulsive behaviors

    • And other ineffective coping behaviors

  • During sessions, we will explore navigating major life changes, such as adolescence, young adulthood, relationships, retirement job loss, and divorce by providing a supportive space to process emotions, develop coping skills, and build resilience

    We will develop strategies and goals for:

    • Navigating/Adjusting to new and uncertain circumstances and emerge with a renewed sense of purpose and clarity

    • Coping with life transitions and stressors

    • Mindful living & self-care

    • Work-life Balance

  • New clients are offered a free initial 30-minute phone. During a consultation, I like to get a sense of what brought you into counseling, talk about the therapy process, discuss things like what to expect from therapy and what you are looking for in a therapist and ensure that you and the therapist you’re interested in working with will be a good fit for working together.

  • This initial session allows you to relay important history and background information (including biological/medical, psychological, and socio-cultural aspects of themselves), lived experiences and discuss in detail what brings you to counseling, and what you hope to gain from counseling.

    During your teletherapy session, we process and explore your thoughts and may include collaborations with other providers, and other therapists.
